    I know this may sound weird, but just watching you making your pictures and prints is really nice. It's great watching you enjoying your photography. I jumped to digital many years ago, having jumped continents back to the UK, and not having room for my beloved darkroom any longer. Personally, I get a huge satisfaction perfecting and inkjet printing my own monochrome images. Not the same thing of course, but, it is the personal satisfaction that one gets that is the great joy in photography. And yes, I shoot medium format digital, and I limit the number of shots that I take of any particular scene/subject to one or two images..a throwback to my 120 days. It may not be the same cost as film, but storing images of 100mb each soon adds up, so one has to be a bit selective and careful not to machine gun the scene! Anyway, as I said earlier, it is a great pleasure to watch you enjoying YOUR photography and printing. Best wishes from an old-timer film bloke. David.

    It would have encouraged me in the Nikon D850 if it offered U1/U2/U3 modes (as in the Z6) instead of banks of settings, which I think are completely unusable.

    I saw a video on You Tube in 2021where the photog was using one of these heads. He wasn't really promoting it, just using it and mentioned it in the video. I ordered one in September 2021. When I hadn't heard anything, I started writing them spring of 2022. Not a word. I thought I'd thrown $300 away... September 2023 (Yes! two years later!) I received a letter for address confirmation. The ballhead arrived a few weeks later. I haven't mounted it yet, but so far it looks impressive in my hands. -HORRIFIC communications: Colorado Tripod gave zero updates on progress, zero explanation of production goals, zero reports on where my money went, never replied to emails, never updated FB, You Tube, Instagram, etc. VERY frustrating. Kinda forgot about them. I wish I'd have been told this was more like a crowd funded item, rather than a current production item. -Impressed: They actually delivered. It took 2 full years but they actually delivered a working, nicely finished, very unique ballhead. Has similarities to another of my favorite lightweight heads: The Acratech Ultimate. (Acratech, however, delivered immediately). Like I said I haven't mounted it yet, but out of the box it looks really good. Unique design, amazing range of motion, lightweight, fit and finish appear to be excellent. Machined in USA. Priced very competitively. -New Policies: I paid $297 up front and they used my money (and many others) for 2 years. Now, they're in stock...otherwise it's a small deposit that gets you in line, and charged balance upon shipping. Much better policy. As frustrated as I was with CTC, they delivered. Their products are made in USA. They've brought some unique innovations, their Highline series offers a unique drop in window offering a range of motion changing the angle on the portrait orientation without having to loosen the pan knob offering faster framing in portrait.

    Your absolutely right this little camera is hard to beat. I've been reaching for this little jewel way before decide to use my a6700 or the a7iv, in vlogging you tend to use more angles to get a little different perspective even 3 to 6 camera angles and that where the dji action 4 comes in and an older gopro but I use these in better light conditions. So the pocket 3 as good as it is its not for every situation. For run and gun this thing rocks... love the video thanks

    • @photographytalk
      @photographytalk 27 днів тому

      @@victor.ivanov ha ha ha... you have me thinking, you know what would be nice? On DJI drones, they have "Cinema" mode that slows movements down, that would be pretty slick to have in this camera. But for me, when I head out, i usually have multiple cameras running from different angles so if the movement is to bad, I'll just cut to another camera. That said what I have noticed, if you are running and gunning holding camera out to your side and talking into camera or have active track on... it does a good job keeping you in frame and offers a little movement that doesn't look terrible. Static talking head in moderation. 100% agree.

      Thanks for pointing that out! You're right, the Pocket 3 is primarily designed as a vlogging camera with its great stabilization and compact size. I agree with just about everything in your review but take issue with your complaint over the price. Remember all the features you're getting with this camera ... not the LEAST of which is the 3-axis gimbal. That feature alone is worth a coupla hundred bucks. This camera also physically tracks movement and can create motion lapses without any additional mounts. And calling it out because it's "delicate" really isn't fair because DJI doesn't market this as an "action" camera. They have another line of cameras for that purpose. This is primarily a Vlogging camera that does much, much more. Other than that, well done and good luck. I'm about to take my Pocket 3 to Alaska for a couple of weeks.

For a camera of this nature... it is priced a bit higher. That said... if you want my PERSONAL two cents... I bought two of them... for me... and my needs... this camera is a smoking deal. But everyones needs are different. ha ha ha... "Delicate" bro, it is compared to others... but true, it's more of a vlogging camera, however I did toss it in the same bucket as action cameras. Either way... no argument from me... it's an awesome camera. Alaska? Where abouts you going? That is going to be a fun trip... I was just up there in Anchorage last September. He's a cool cat! That's awesome, I don't blame you... what is funny is when I head out, I will usually have my R5 or R6 II with me, with this camera the picture quality is so good, I could leave my larger cameras home. Stay well and thanks for stopping by!

    I use a Z30 with a DJI RS3 mini. If they make a Pocket 3 PRO that's slightly larger, with a CROP / DX sensor, I may jump. The Interchangeable lenses are a must for me at this stage and the Z30 is ultra light and the 14-28mm is an incredible stabilised lens. Plus I can throw a nice piece of Nikon glass on the Z30 to get something sharper and more wide open. The pocket 3 although it has a good dynamic range, it's just not the tool I need.

      Nikon builds great cameras, I shot Nikon for nearly 17 years. That said, the gentleman that I referenced in this video 'HillPhantom' once said to me "You do you". And that those words of wisdom, we all should follow when it comes to the gear we choose to sport. So Peter... you do you and thanks for commenting here today!

    I've seen other reviews on this camera and most say similar. I wonder if DJI plans on making a weatherproof one in the future.

    So does the gimbal work the same in this camera as it does in their drones?

      Awwww, pumpkin having a bad day?! Well sport... this wasn't a review video. This was announcing the winner of all the reviews I had done that year. If you want to watch a review video... let me know the name of the company you are interested in and I'll share the review. Keep in mind... these reviews are designed for someone coming to the channel for the first time and walking away with understanding of our 'why', benefits to you, and comprehensive understanding of the print getting reviewed. If you want a slammed review with just the scorecard, not our format. Hope this helps!

    Welcome back! 🎉 We've missed your content and it's great to see you back in action. Your in-depth reviews have always been so helpful, and this Artisan HD metal print unboxing is no exception. It's been two weeks since this video-any updates on when we can expect more content?

    Excellent review and video Alex - thank you! I recently attended an in-person art workshop at Artisan's amazing printing facilities in Scottsdale, AZ. It was organized by Artisan's President, Doug Bondon and his wife Dayna, who both went out of their way to attend in person - what a personal touch! I'll definitely be ordering more of my aviation art prints through Artisan! ❤

I'm creating art that's inspired through my love of aviation and looking to make art prints on metal! Thanks again for all your sharing Alex, please keep up the amazing work!

    Nice review, spot on... and this my is first PhotographyTalk episode watched. I have purchased more than $10K in HD metals and HD Acrylics for clients from Artbeat Studios after scouring and trying various printers. Their professionalism and quality is only second to none in the US. I have only found one lab in Germany that puts out a better product, but at a monumental price increase. And regarding the ignorant comment elsewhere in this comment section, packaging was the first thing I noticed setting Artbeat apart from just anyone. Once you get into the larger prints they loose the cardboard and start using plywood and screws for the larger format items. I can firmly attest that Artbeat will succeed and fulfill most photographer's needs for professional production. I can not speak on their paper or canvas products, because I have not purchased any. I am also in process of integrating their drop ship store to my website. Like many high end printers, they also have a loyalty program for those of you spending money for your craft which makes you more money the more you spend with them. They are also big on building relationships with their clients. Other than using Artbeat for my profession, I am not affiliated with them whatsoever.
